Our strategic Tools and Resources Development Fund (s-TRDF) aims to: * Support small or short-duration pump-priming research projects and/or bring together communities for collaborative purposes, including resource or standards development, in areas of strategic importance * Initiate novel technology or methods driven activities to facilitate the development and uptake of new approaches to enable advances in bioscience, within the remit of our Strategic Plan 2010-2015 (see releated links) and the strategic research priorities It is anticipated that successful grants will not exceed #120k (this figure refers to the BBSRC contribution to the project, i.e. 80% of the full economic cost). The budget for the s-TRDF will be about #2.5M, subject to the quality of the applications received. A fast-track, light touch peer review process will operate to enable researchers to respond rapidly to emerging challenges and opportunities. Applications for projects should be between 6 and 18 months duration, but community networking activities, including standards development, can extend for up to 3 years where justified.
